Covered Wagons
A northbound Soo Line train, enjoying trackage rights on the Milwaukee Road, ducks under the CNW north of Milwaukee at Havenwoods State Forest (near Mill Road and N. 60th Street). The train will go through Granville and on up to Rugby Junction where it will regain the Soo main.

Marley Road
This is a westbound Rock Island Rocket (which one, I know not) at Marley Road just east of New Lenox, Illinois. One image by Richard Koenig; from a medium format negative, taken in 1976 or so.
Haley Tower
Here we see a westbound on the Big Four at Haley Tower in Terre Haute, Indiana. The line was New York Central, then Penn Central, Conrail, and eventually CSX. It crossed the Milwuakee Road and C&EI at this point. The Pennsylvania Railroad also ran through this town on the Wabash River.

Amtrak Floridian
A southbound Amtrak Floridian makes its station stop in Bloomington, Indiana. The photographer is looking eastward along Third Street; the power for the day is an EMD E9 originally built for the B&O in 1955.

Problematic Matrix
A westbound train is pictured in (what I believe to be) Mitchell, Indiana. It will soon depart and head west, to St. Louis perhaps. The negative is poorly processed, and oh so dusty—but, in this case, I like it.

In this shot, a northbound train is approaching the lead unit of a southbound—where the photographer is situated. This is happening in Bloomington, Indiana, on the so-called Hi-Dry, Illinois Central’s line to Indianapolis.

Historical Echo
Not a big deal, but I was pleased to see two of my photographs published in the Union Pacific Historical Society’s journal, The Streamliner, recently (Vol. 33 No. 3, Summer 2019).
This was in relation to
sesquicentennial events, at Ogden and Promontory Summit; one of the images was on the back cover—juxtaposed with the work of one of my heroes, A. J. Russell.
